“The
Son of Neptune” by Rick Riordan, is the second book of “The Lost
Hero” series. It is about how the main character, Percy Jackson,
and how he wakes up and does not remember anything except his name,
that he is a demi-god (half human half god) and he is the son of
Poseidon. After battling many monsters like sea monsters and snake
ladies he meets this old lady and she tells him that he must carry
her across the Tiber river to get to safety. He carries her across
the Tiber river and he ends up in the Roman camp. As soon as he
crosses the border the old lady turns into Juno, the Roman goddess,
and tells Percy to stop the monster population from growing. He must
save the god of death.
What
I have realized in this book is that each person in the quest (except
Percy who does not remember anything) had a deep dark secret. Like
Hazel Levesque,
the daughter of Pluto, actually died in 1929
but another son of Pluto brought her back to life.
Frank Zhang's
life depends on a piece of wood because he is the son of Mars but his
ancestor on his mother's side was a son of Poseidon. So because he
was so powerful Juno gave Frank's mother a piece of wood and said
that her son's life depended on it.
I
believe that the whole point of this series is that the main
characters should trust each other and if they do, I believe they
will defeat the main bad guy, the evil Gaea.
