Children of The Lamp

“Children of The Lamp,” by P.B. Kerr is about John and Philippa, two kids whose mother is incredibly gifted in beauty and smarts. Their father is an incredibly rich and generous man and he gives a lot money to the poor. They feel like ordinary people compared to their parents but all of a sudden, after they take their wisdom teeth out, everything changes. Their uncle Nimrod comes to them in a dream and says they are djinn – magical creatures who can grant three wishes and make things appear and disappear.

What I realized reading the book “Children of The Lamp,” is that they take lot of things from the Egyptian history (because djinn come from Egypt). In the book tried to explain the unexplained like when King Akhenaten chose to worship one god according to legend, the Sun God Ra. But in the book Akhenaten actually was in command of seventy powerful djinn. And in ancient Egypt people thought that their gods could shape shift into animals and objects but, in the book the djinn could shape shift into animals and objects like the gods.

I believe that it was a fun book to read it was full of adventure and mystery and I recommend you read it.
