Girls and Dangerous Pie Essay

I
just read a book called, “Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie.” It was
wonderful and it was about this boy Steven Alper and his family, how
he has a brother with leukemia (a type of cancer) and how he faces
it. What I noticed and liked about the book is that the character
changes as his life gets harder.
One
of the ways he changes is in the beginning of the book he only cares
about himself. He wanted to be the best drummer he wanted the All
City Band and wanted a drum solo to be his moment. He also hated his
brother and wanted to be an only child.
Then,
after his brother gets cancer and he meets this cancer patient named
Samantha, who about his age and tells him to never leave his
brother's side. After that, he starts to give up very precious things
like he gives up his special drum sticks to Samantha and gives up his
drum lessons so that his parents could save money. He also stuck to
his brother thoughout his leukemia treatment.
In
conclusion, I thought that the character was very strong and the
character learned many things about over coming challenges and that
we should learn from him to conquer your fears. He also learns to not
take little things for granted.
